The greenhouse gases emitted by +1.9 billion vehicles and +20,000 coal/oil/gas fired power stations is resulting in global warming. Rapid transportation electrification and powerplant decarbonisation cannot be wholly achieved by limited and intermittent renewables such as hydro-electric dams, wind turbines and solar arrays, that all require fossil fuels for their construction. Fission nuclear powerplants do not generate greenhouse gases, however, their radioactive waste, legacy accidents has unfortunately limited their use.
